One of the quotes that always inspired my practice is “I don’t explain, I explore” by Marshal McLuhan. Exploration and Experimentation are key to my practice.
In the Lab environment, usually researchers follow scientific processes and protocols, but at the same time they experiment and explore possibilities. Tajribi means experimental in Arabic. So, in combining the two words together, Lab Tajribi, I wanted to reflect what the essence of my practice is. I believe in process, documentation, and experimentation. Even when creating artworks, I tend to think cognitively rather than expressively. My design practice stems from my architectural background, builds on my experimentation with digital and interactive media, and extends to adopt my academic research skills.
In my practice, I employ different tools, media, visual aesthetics to communicate ideas, feelings, and concepts. My focus is on activism, identity politics, Muslim and Arab representations, Human Rights and social justice.
